Christmas Markets On The Rhine

Sit back and relax and enjoy some in-flight meals and entertainment on your overnight flight to Frankfurt, Germany.

Arrive at Frankfurt Airport and meet up with your Adelman Travel Tour Manager to transfer as a group to Cologne. We will have a panoramic Cologne City Tour. Lunch will be on your own at the local Christmas Market before you check into our hotel for the night. Tonight, we gather for a group dinner. (D)

Today, the Rhine welcomes you with its wintery charm as we transfer to Amadeus` newest ship, the AMADEUS Nova, which debuted in June 2024. The Nova will be our home for the next four nights. After settling into your cabin, you can explore the ship, join the onboard cruise management for a welcome cocktail, and enjoy your first dinner there. (B, D)

This morning, our ship docks in Koblenz before breakfast and you can explore the romantic town in the northern Rhineland-Palatinate during the course of an included extended sightseeing walk, allowing the Christmas spirit of the old town to charm you. Our trip continues through the magical Middle Rhine Valley and past the legendary Lorelei rock. The enchanting landscape loses none of its charm in the winter months and this section of the Rhine is rightly considered one of the most beautiful! We reach the wine town of Rüdesheim, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Rhine Valley. For our included excursion in Rüdesheim, we board the Winzerexpress train, which takes us to the Siegfried Mechanical Music Cabinet, where we will experience an adventure for the ears with its historical self-playing instruments. Christmas magic awaits you again when we take an included trip to visit Heidelberg, one of the few German cities with a widely preserved baroque old town. We will enjoy a castle tour that leads into the castle garden. You will have a fantastic view of the city and the Neckar River from the grand terrace. The tour continues with a stroll through the enchanting old town, to Karl-Theodor Bridge, the late-Gothic Church of the Holy Spirit, and the town hall. At the end of the tour, you can stroll around the Christmas Market of Heidelberg. After lunch aboard our ship, the afternoon is yours to explore the town of Speyer on your own or take an OPTIONAL Speyer walking tour with a visit to the Christmas market. The wonderful city of Strasbourg, France, will welcome us this morning. After breakfast, we will embark on a short coach tour through the city, which will continue with a walk in the historic part of town and a visit to the famous cathedral Straßburger Münster, the symbol of the city. From here, you will walk through the historic and festively decorated "Petite France" district. You will have time to stop and visit the Christmas markets along the way. After lunch, the afternoon is yours to head back to the Strasbourg Christmas Market or take an OPTIONAL tour to the Village of Gertwiller, known for its Lebkuchen (Christmas gingerbreads). This morning, after breakfast, we say farewell to our Amadeus home, and we head to Baden-Baden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for a guided walking tour of this stunning city and a visit to the Christmas market. Almost no other city in Germany is as cosmopolitan and exclusive as Baden-Baden. In the 19th century, Baden-Baden developed into a sophisticated spa town thanks to its thermal baths. It was further developed into an international gaming resort patronized by aristocrats and wealthy citizens following the building of the Casino. A rich heritage has been preserved from this 19th-century heyday. We will overnight in Heidelberg. (B)

We head to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, known for its medieval architecture and half-timbered houses that line the cobblestone roads, for a city tour with a local guide and free time to visit the Kaethe Wohlfahrt Christmas Store and the local Christmas market. Then we are off to Nuremberg to visit one of the oldest and most famous Christkindlesmarkt in the world. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to explore the city and the market. (B)

We start this morning with a walking tour of Nuremberg with a local guide, where you will see all the wonderful history this city has to offer. The rest of the day is yours to pick up those last-minute gifts and visit the Christmas market. Tonight, we will get together for a farewell dinner and reminisce about our time together exploring the German Christmas markets. (B, D)
