Day 3: 10/21/2024 - Cannes - Antibes

Our morning begins with a city tour of Cannes. "Discovered" by Lord Brougham in 1834, Cannes soon became a community for the international elite and is synonymous with the International Film Festival. We will see the Palais des Festivals with its lovely harbor and La Croisiette, perhaps one of the most elegant seaside promenades in the world. The old town - Le Suquet-, is still a delicious maze of medieval streets and Renaissance houses. We continue onward to Antibes, nestled in the beautiful Cote d' Azur. Antibes was founded as a 5th century BC Greek colony settled by Phocaeans and also known as the longtime home of Picasso. Enjoy entrance to the Picasso home where original Picasso's decorate throughout. Antibes was also home to Napoléon Bonaparte and his family until his imprisonment after the fall of Robespierre. (B)

Day 4: 10/22/2024 - Grasse Excursion / Optional Tour to St Paul de Vence

This morning we make our way to Grasse to learn about the perfume industry. Grasse is the center of the French perfume industry and is known as the world's perfume capital. The world's finest "noses" reside here. A "nose" is the correct name for a person highly trained in the art of perfumery in Grasse. These "noses"can identify and classify hundreds of fragrances, subtly blended together in a harmonious combination, while fine perfumes can contain more than 100 ingredients. Grasse produces over two-thirds of France's natural aromas for perfume and for food flavorings. This afternoon, take an optional tour to St. Paul-de-Vence. The picture-book medieval village of St. Paul-de-Vence stands hidden behind its ramparts and is "Provence in a nutshell". St. Paul-de-Vence was rediscovered only in the 1920's by a group of painters. The painter Chagall lived here and is entombed here. Take advantage of shopping or just relax in the soothing Mediterranean breezes. (B)

Day 5: 10/23/2024 - Nice

Today, enjoy a city tour of Nice. Learn some Niçoise history and local secrets as you wander through the narrow, cobbled stone streets and passages. Stop for a traditional snack and visit a flower and produce market near the beach. After your city tour enjoy the remainder of the day exploring the city at leisure. (B)

Day 6: 10/24/2024 - Excursion to Monte Carlo - Villefrance - Eze

Today take an excursion to Monaco today. Monaco is an independent principality about half the size of New York City's Central Park; with a population of 27,000. Monte Carlo is the site of the well-known casino and a glittering center of international social life. All of Monaco is contained within an area of less than 1 square mile. Our city tour will include the 19th-century Romanesque Cathedral, famous for the sight of Princess Grace's tomb. Next, we travel to Villefrance. There's quite a medieval feeling in Villefrance. This city's long and rich history as a major sea port is visible everywhere you look with quiet little squares and the Place de l'Eglise that has a bench circling a beautiful big tree. We continue to the medieval village of Eze, perched 1,000 feet above the Mediterranean Sea for fantastic views. (B)

Day 7: 10/25/2024 - Day at Leisure

Enjoy a day at leisure in Nice. You can enjoy the day at your pace. Perhaps visit one of the many outdoor markets or enjoy a stroll on the beach. Designer shopping, famous cafes and delicious restaurants are just a short walk away. Today will be yours to spend as you wish. (B)

st paul de vence
Full day tour
Saint Paul de Vence is an excellent example of a charming hilltop fortified village in Provence, filled with art galleries, boutiques and sidewalk cafes. A walk through its winding streets reveals elegant fountains, vine-covered stone walls and statues tucked into nooks in the walls. There are breathtaking views of mountains and sea. Even the ground below is attractive, as the cobblestones are laid into the shapes of flowers. This small, relaxed town’s artsy side runs deep. Chagall lived here, and great art museums such as the Maeght and Saint-Paul’s Museum are in town or just outside it. Its Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs was one of the last commissions undertaken by the Belgian artist Folon. Walk along the ancient city walls for great views. You can hardly take a few steps in Saint Paul without happening on an art gallery. As an artists’ village, it is also filled with more affordable artwork in the form of various crafts. The costume jewelry on sale at many of the shops is quite affordable and unique. There are interesting and creative knick-knacks for decorating your home throughout the town.
